Writing Finding Jennifer Launch
http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=2346 Finding Jennifer Launch – Finding Jennifer, my fourth novel and fifth published work, is finally done. Satisfying as that is, I’ve discovered that writing, while a lonely, time consuming task, it is certainly the most enjoyable part of the book

New Book this Spring – Finding Jennifer
http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=2310 New Book this Spring – Finding Jennifer - We’ve been working hard on a new novel which should be in most online bookstores sometime before May. I’ve included the cover art and an excerpt from the first chapter for all to read. I would appreciated commnents and constructive criticism or if you like good or bad critiques. The premise follow our southern border problem and how easily innocent Americans can be unwittingly drawn into the danger. Our hero, reluctantly searches for a missing young woman and finds himself in the middle of the the border war. Then things really get complicated. Continue reading

Winter in the Sonoran Desert
http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=2249 Winter in the Sonoran Desert is a great time to enjoy the desert as temperatures are mild and the colors gorgeous. A recent trip to Phoenix in the early morning afforded an excellent opportunity to photograph a region that is loaded with the giant cactus common only to the northern Sonoran Desert. Continue reading

Photographing Clouds
http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=2229 Photographing clouds is sometimes challenging, but both Arizona and South Dakota afford ample opportunities. Most of the time the shots are early in the morning at dawn or before and/or in the evening the last half hour before sunset until dark. This two “golden Continue reading

Arizona Sunrise Pictures
http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=1320 A stunning Arizona sunrise is a common treat in this area and the first three pictures in this post are but a sample. Because we are so close to the mountains, these dramatic sunrise colors are only visible for a very short time, usually less than a half hour and the colors change over a matter of minutes from deep reds or pinks to light yellows and finally disappearing. More Picacho Peak Pictures
http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=1300 This post includes more Picacho Peak pictures, part of a great many taken recently on a trip into the Sonoran Desert around Picacho Peak. We were lucky enough to stumble into a group of turkey vultures (Catharles aura) sitting in a grove of trees along the Colorado River. Continue reading

Picacho Peak Photos
http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=1280 Little by little I’ve been working on the hundreds of Picacho Peak photos (thanks to the invention of digital cameras) I took in the desert a few weeks ago. The temperature topped out a balmy 90 degrees or so with full sunshine and no wind. A gorgeous day for photography Continue reading

Picacho Peak-Colorado River Basin
http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=1256 Recently we visited Picacho Peak and the Lower Colorado River Basin area, a part of the Sonoran Desert we hadn’t explored before, which includes a State Recreational Area, a very remote campground, boat launches, abundant wildlife and breathtaking scenery. Big Birds and Desert Mountains
A couple of recent desert mountain excursions produced these examples of the large bird population that winter in Southern Arizona. The picture in the upper right is of an Osprey, Pandion Haliaetus, a large (4.5 -6 ft. wingspread) fish-eating hawk and the only … Continue reading
Desert Flowers
Sonoran Desert flowers bloom beautiful beyond words, both because of their amazing colors, but also because their infrequency and heavy dependence on rainfall. When rain comes, especially in spring, the desert comes alive like a rising phoenix. http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=762 Continue reading
