South Dakota Summer

http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=1722 South Dakota summers are usually hot and humid with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. As the summer proceeds into August, the frequency and intensity of storms tends to diminish. Not so this year it seems. The storm shown building in the lower left picture resulted in more than four inches of rain in parts of the state. On the good side, clouds and the weather make for great photo opportunities on occasions. Continue reading

RR Tracks, Old Buildings and Rainbows

http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=974 RR Tracks, old buildings and rainbows photography, as all you camera buffs know, is sometimes about just walking around looking until something jumps out at you. That was the case with the photos shown above. In the upper left I stumbled upon an railroad siding long abandoned to rotting ties and invading weeds. It wasn’t hard to imagine switch engines and loaded box cars silenced by time. The upper right is the sun and weather rotted remnants of a once utililitarian barn, long ago closed up and abandoned. On the lower left stands a still utilized little white church, built about the turn of the century little changed by the years.
