Writing Finding Jennifer Launch

http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=2346 Finding Jennifer Launch – Finding Jennifer, my fourth novel and fifth published work, is finally done. Satisfying as that is, I’ve discovered that writing, while a lonely, time consuming task, it is certainly the most enjoyable part of the book

New Book this Spring – Finding Jennifer

http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=2310 New Book this Spring – Finding Jennifer - We’ve been working hard on a new novel which should be in most online bookstores sometime before May. I’ve included the cover art and an excerpt from the first chapter for all to read. I would appreciated commnents and constructive criticism or if you like good or bad critiques. The premise follow our southern border problem and how easily innocent Americans can be unwittingly drawn into the danger. Our hero, reluctantly searches for a missing young woman and finds himself in the middle of the the border war. Then things really get complicated. Continue reading

Politics as Usual

http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=2222 Politics as Usual – I haven’t been able to add much to this blog lately as an accident to my right hand left me unable to type in recent weeks. Other than confessing that my wife and children have unceremoniously awarded me the Dumb Ass Award of the Month, I leave it Continue reading

I didn’t vote for President Obama

http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=1874 I’ll admit that I didn’t vote for President Obama. I made this decision based on a couple of problems. First and foremost, other than he’d been a freshman senator from Illinois for less than three years, he had a pretty sparse record in national politics. Continue reading

Worry About HealthCare

http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=1060 I’m worried about the PATIENT PROTECTION AND AFFORDABLE CARE ACT or as shortened by the news media, “ObamaCare.” The argument that medical care delivery and healthcare reform is desirable is a valid one based on my experience in recent years with skyrocketing medical care costs, staggering medical insurance increases and a decline in service delivery. However, this act does nothing to correct the long term and deep seated problems, such as allowing competition between insurance providers across state lines, tort reform and the principal issue, a shortage of medical providers. No one has been able to adequately explain how we can add thirty million new insured’s with no provision to encourage new entrants to the medical field. Instead, this bill penalizes medical providers with a flurry of new regulations and discounted payments.

Domestic Security

Recently the flying public has been subjected to increased airline security measures in the form of a full body scan or an optional full pat down. For those of us who have never been arrested, these procedures are a humiliating experience. http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=784 Continue reading

Getting Fired

http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=553 Last week, Juan Williams learned about getting fired, when NPR (National Public Radio) let go one of their long-time political correspondents, ostensibly for for expressing on Fox’s “The O’Reilly Factor,” the personal feeling that he was sometimes nervous when riding aircraft including other passengers in traditional Muslim garb, a sentiment that is likely shared by many others in this country given what happened on September 11, 2001. Unintended Circumstances

http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=347 Unintended circumstances worry me. During my working life I watched computers evolve from room-sized, mysterious contraptions with blinking lights, large tape drives, and reams of green bar printouts to personal desk top models with computing power we could only dream about in an IBM 360-30.
