Writing Finding Jennifer Launch
http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=2346 Finding Jennifer Launch – Finding Jennifer, my fourth novel and fifth published work, is finally done. Satisfying as that is, I’ve discovered that writing, while a lonely, time consuming task, it is certainly the most enjoyable part of the book

Learning to Write Fiction
http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=2340 Learning to Write Fiction – I confess to writing my first fiction short story in my teens a good many years ago. That first effort found its way to the trash in fairly short order. After that initial attempt the writing bug laid dormant a number of years filled with marriage and child rearing. That settled, I found time on my hands. After taking a couple creative writing courses, the bug rose to the surface again. Its been with me off and on since. The next few years left me with a box full of short stories and a matching box of rejection letters. My writing instructor suggested I turn one of those short stories into a novel. Continue reading
New Book this Spring – Finding Jennifer
http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=2310 New Book this Spring – Finding Jennifer - We’ve been working hard on a new novel which should be in most online bookstores sometime before May. I’ve included the cover art and an excerpt from the first chapter for all to read. I would appreciated commnents and constructive criticism or if you like good or bad critiques. The premise follow our southern border problem and how easily innocent Americans can be unwittingly drawn into the danger. Our hero, reluctantly searches for a missing young woman and finds himself in the middle of the the border war. Then things really get complicated. Continue reading

Writing Fiction
http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=2289 Writing fiction is mostly a solitary endeavor, one that combines a prodigious amount of typing, staring at the wall dreaming and occasionally gazing out the window at birds. Not that the birds have anything to do with the writing but they just happen to congregate in a place where I can see them. Like many fiction writers I started out writing short stories, which at least in my case, were mostly bad. Frustrated, I bravely took a year-long post graduate course in Creative Writing at a local college in my home town. Expanded Availability of Our Books
http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=1030 Our efforts to expand the availability of our books now includes Nookbooks at Barnes and Noble. If you haven’t heard of the “Nook” it is an Ebook reader similar to Amazon’s “Kindle.” Scaling Tall Timber, a novel about a young forester who, shortly after graduating from college and searching for a fresh start, is assigned to a new job in a remote area of northwestern Montana. Product Safety and Consumer Protection
http://www.davefolsom.net/?p=1051 Frankly, in general I have favored some of the advances we’ve made in product safety and consumer protection, especially where a large part of the population is at risk. I certainly wouldn’t want to go back to the “good old days” when cars could reach speeds of over a hundred miles an hour and if you hit something, survival was unlikely. Today’s cars, small, lighter and capable of similar speeds, are, thanks to seat belts, air bags and other innovations, safer than ever. The issue here is that, even the most responsible driver can be involved in a life-threatening crash due to someone else’s stupidity and that exposure is almost daily.
